The realm of fashion accompanies us day by day. If it might be putting on a uniform for practice or work, to enhance ones personality and view on life, or even if one choses not to care – every garment we touch has a story and cultural context in itself; you can barely escape to care about it. In order to grasp and analyze the width of fashion, Zeitung Magazine dives deep into origins, present forms and outlooks in the industry in our third and most extensive issue 31.AUG.2024.
In conversation with JAKOB SCHLAEPFER, we look at the very beginning and starting point of a textile. SHADOWPLAY discusses the importance of organic fabrics and rethinking. Looking at design processes, MARTIN SULZBACHER explains what it means to have a good sketch.
To highlight the presentation of clothing, JANE MORINEAU captures today's modelling industry, whereas STUDIO DENNIS VANDERBROECK realizes the stage design for such performances. In our printed matter, MODE AND MODE captures what happens behind the scenes, whereas make-up artists such as SOPHIA SINOT, CRISTYNA KAY, and MANTIS LEPRÊTE are a crucial part of it. When it comes to practice with a focused texture and touch, conversations with FLAKA JAHAJ, VOWELS NYC and artist MANON WERTENBROEK put haptics into words. Talking about clothing and culture, GALILEE-BY-SEA, LIL, FREDERIC SAINT-PARCK and MATISSE DI MAGGIO explain their visions and values. Our shorts deal with dreamy collabs such as RICK OWENS x PLAYBOI CARTI, introduce new shopping experiences at DOVER STREET MARKET, discuss a movie about MIGUEL ADROVER, highlight the iconic style of MARIO BALOTELLI and comment on court fits from YOUNG THUG. With this, Zeitung enters one of the final stages of clothing: its distribution and wear due to looking at shopping windows from LOUIS ANTWERP, LYNN HERSHMAN-LEESON and store design by KIKO KOSTADINOV. After something has been worn once, it can certainly be worn again, as COPMEIFYOUCAN reveals through his iconic vintage pieces and how to find them. Speaking of archival fashion, KOSTAS MURKUDIS dresses THERESA PATZSCHKE for an editorial in Berlin, whereas SIMEN K. FRANTZEN explains why the circulation and presence of garments play a crucial role in how we read them. Finally, photographer MORGAN MAHER captures fashion in the sense of girlhood and to finish off the ride, MARTINA TIEFENTHALER shares her favourite recipe, whereas JEPPE UGELVIG and KATHARINA KORBJUN give you the ideal read for a mindful and inspiring afterthought.
